BLUE ISLAND RECORDS is a Newfoundland-based music label with broad interests in music that explores new combinations of style and instrumentation.   Our artists include individual performers and groups working in traditions that span classical music, folk traditions, jazz and blues and styles that defy description.  In each case these performers are creating new sounds that reflect a blending of several older traditions.

BLUE ISLAND RECORDS operates a mobile digital studio (Spirit of the Islands Recording Studio) based in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland, a small outport community just north of St. John's.   In recent projects we have focused on capturing live acoustic sound in a way that is accurate and acoustically rich.    We are currently involved in several projects that involve on-site recording.  Our engineers and equipment are available for mobile location recording anywhere in the world.

BLUE ISLAND RECORDS as well as being a "record label" acts as a distributor for independent artists whose musical interests are in harmony with our goals.    We are committed to presenting and promoting the finest new artists working in a range of acoustic styles, and would welcome your interest if you are a performer and recording artist, or if you know of an artist who is currently seeking distribution.

Over the coming year we will be expanding our catalogue of artists and developing a broadly-based online presence to more effectively distribute and promote their recordings.
