CANADIAN CONFERENCE SESSIONS

Delegates attending the Canadian Conference will hold their annual meeting in St. John’s during the final three days of Our Future in Music, from Friday, August 22 – Sunday, August 24. We have selected The Battery Hotel and Suites as our main conference venue. This venue will provide comfortable accommodation for delegates and guests, space for the Music Technology Fair and also one outdoor venue for the Concert Series.

Canadian Conference is the annual meeting of delegates from the 27 Canadian locals of the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada (AFM). This event traditionally begins with a recreational golf tournament early Friday morning, followed by meetings of the delegates and guests.

The formal sessions of the Conference will begin on Saturday morning.  On the evening of Saturday, August 23, a banquet hosted by Local 820 will feature a showcase performance by Newfoundland and Labrador artists.

Sunday will include recommendations emerging from the discussions and presentations during the preceding two days.

Although the formal meetings and presentations are attended by official delegates of the Canadian locals, other musicians and members of the public who are interested may apply to attend as observers.
